Flea Tick Months

I have two young dogs (4 months, 11 months) - and live in New Jersey where disease tick / Lyme is a major issue. I wonder what is the best protection I can get for my dogs as well as reasonably-afforadable What am ready to pay any amount of someting special is a sure thing., Suggestions?
Believe it or not you can bathe your dog in Pine-Sol. I used it for years. I ran my bath water and put Pine-Sol in the bath water and bath my dogs twice a week. I also put a cap full of distilled vinegar in their water bowl. These are great to keep fleas, ticks and eggs to enter your dog. Do not believe me look on the Internet. Good luck:)
