Top Flea Lbs
Sunday, August 14th, 2011Can I give my dog Benadryl another?
My poor lil guy and flea bites on top of what he had an allergic reaction to flea shampoo we have bathed in it, my husband can not swim again after work and he has hives everywhere! So I gave him a Benadryl yesterday around 4:00 p.m. ET is now 4:15 ET he scratches up a storm, it weighs 25 kg and I give him 25mg; Is it safe to give him another dose now? It's been 12 hours and the emotions of the last dose has clearly worn off. Usually chips do not stay on him, but few stayed for a few days and usually all you need to get rid of them is a flea bath for him, It works every time just this once he had a reaction. oh btw, as my vet gave the okay to give him 25mg of Benadryl in the past for an injury to the leg (in fact, the Benadryl is left of it), I forgot whether I could give two doses of 25 mg in a 24 hour period of time.
Yes, the doses are usually given every 8 hours. Would not hurt to confirm with your vet if. ETA: It's not a crazy high dose someone said. Typical dose is 2 mg per kilogram of body weight, in fact. But if it becomes a significant relief of 1 mg, there is no need to raise. You always want the lowest dose that provides a therapeutic effect.
