Spot Flea 60
Can I apply "extra" flea spot on on my dog?
He weighs 100 lbs, and we are using biospot. The highest biospot is for 60+ lbs so I don't see how a spot-on that works for 60 lbs is going to work completely on a 100 lb dog. It gets rid of the fleas on his chest/back and head area, however there are ALWAYS alot of fleas on his legs. I am wondering if this is because the spot-on is applied farthest away from the leg/feet? If this is the case, would it be sage to apply some for small dogs of the same brand on his feet?
Advantage and frontline are spot ons just like bio-spot. I am rotating flea treatments because I know fleas(and other pests) can become immune to pesticides, so I can't just stick with one. I am applying to base of tail, middle of back, and between the shoulder blades.. I don't see how applying on the feet is any different than applying to the base of the tail, because he is consistently chewing the base of his tail too(allergies).
I use BioSpot on my 120 lb huge Doberman and I've never had the problem you say you are having. When you apply it do you do a stripe down his back or at least put it on at his withers (shoulders), base of tail (top of his rump) and a bit in the middle of his back? If you read the directions that's what they say to do...or the last time I read them that's what they said.
I would not apply more than recommended. If you've not ever looked it up these spot-on treatments contain pesticides. Some dogs have some serious reactions to them...seizures, death. I would want to use as little as possible. Also, applying the product directly to his feet is probably a very bad idea because his feet can go directly into his mouth...then he'd be digesting the pesticide.
