Best flea prevention in Central TX, in & out dogs & cat?
We live in the city in Central Texas, have dozens of dogs in our neighborhood & fleas are BAD this year. Our 2 small dogs & 1 cat use doggie door, in and out throughout the day into a green grass backyard.
Dogs next door, dogs behind us across the alley....everywhere & all have fleas!
I've been using the Frontline spray but it doesn't seem to be working nearly as good as it used to.
Vet suggested Promeris but it seems very new--I hate new stuff. Let someone test it out on their own dog.
Any suggestions? I've never used anything other than Frontline the 3 pack box, and spray bottle (only been using the spray for about 1 or 2 yrs, don't know if there's a diff)
We use the frontline spot on and this year when everyone else is having a lot of flea and tick problems we have not had any. The spray only kills the fleas already on them. It does not provide long term flea control. You also need to treat the lawn and if the fleas get to be trouble in the house, you will need to treat it as well. For the yard, go to a farm supply store like TSC and buy a lawn and garden insecticide that you spread on the yard. It will help a lot.
