Disgusted with my 23 lb weight gain at 20 Weeks?
I've gained 23 lbs and I'm only 20 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I feel so horribly ashamed of myself. I had to come off my antidepressants and anti-anxiety pills for this pregnancy, so I've been depressed and anxiety-ridden, and hence, eating too much. Plus I've been under a TON of stress - I just moved in with my SO & this pregnancy was unplanned. As a former anorexic, this weight gain is killing me. I want to lose weight but know that I can't. (Oh yeah, and this weight gain isn't acceptable because I wasn't underweight before I got pregnant. I was 135 lbs, and now I'm 158. I'm 5'5.) How can I get my weight gain back on track, or is it even that important?
I know what you are feeling and going through I've been really struggling with my weight this pregnancy. I started out 5'7 at 205 pounds and so I was SUPPOSED to only gain 25 pounds also but I had insulin resistance (basically I was pre-diabetic) before I got pregnant and once my weight started going up it just got crazy. My midwife thinks I sit around stuffing my face all day but I don't! some people's bodies just don't metabolize things the correct way and there isn't much you can do about it while pregnant except try to make the best food choices possible. I've gained 28 pounds and am 28 weeks and my weight is showning no sign of stopping even though I'm drinking a TON of water and watching what Im eating. But theres not point stressing because that will lead to more eating. Just try to be concsious of everything you put in your mouth. Try to eat alot of protein snacks during the day like almonds and sticks of cheese and stuff. I've also started a food journal where I write down EVERYTHING i eat for the day so I can see what changes I need to make. Hope this helps hun
