My mom doesn't get our dogs heartworm preventive?
So, I am going to take them to the vet soon and get them on it. They are small dogs weighing about 15 pounds. How much does preventive cost?
I'm not going to get them the test and preventive until spring time.

They'll need to be tested first before they can be put on preventative. Price varies by veterinarian, but one veterinarian I worked for charged $35 for a heartworm test. The preventative also varies depending on what brand your vet sells. My vet sold Iverhart Max, and for a 6 month supply for a 15 pound dog, it cost around $40, if I remember correctly. Your dogs will need to be heartworm tested every year.
