Is it normal for dogs to be nervous without their collar?
When I take my dogs collar off she appears nervous or as if she wants it back on, is that normal?
It's a choke chain collar that she always has on regardless of anything.
She's 45 pounds and mostly stays indoors, but we do go running a lot. She's had the collar on for 5 years with no problems at all. It's a pretty snug fit after its on, doubt it'd catch anything a regular collar wouldn't
A lot of dogs do that, unless they have been accustomed to having the collar taken off on a regular basis.
Not to be prying or anything, but you really shouldn't leave a choke collar on a dog at all times. A choke collar is far more likely to get caught on objects and could seriously hurt your dog.
All it takes is one stray stick to get caught in the loop and hang your dog.
Although, honestly I am not a fan of choke chains. I find prongs much safer and more effective.
