I just got a 6 month old kitten yesterday. She has fleas?
I got her a collar as soon as I saw the 2 fleas on her last night. I put it on her and put her in my bathroom upstairs in bedroom with her litter box, food and water. This morning, I took her out of there and put her in the guest bedroom with all of her things. Tonight I gave her a bath with dishsoap (Palmolive) after taking the collar off. I read how dangerous the collar is. After her bath I dried her off and she got away. She's been in almost every room of my house. SHe's only been here for like a full day and a couple of hours. Do you think my home is infested? I'm going to buy some advantage for her on Wednesday, but I'm scared that my house may become infested with fleas. Is this possible given that she's only been here for one day?

Most probably not. Advantage is very good. Just follow the directions. It works by getting into the kitty's bloodstream thru the skin. When the flea bites, it dies and falls off. Kitty will have Fleas but your home will not. Bites once and dies. I wish I could get that concept thru my husband's thick skull. If about you are still anxious about your home being infested, get some Boric Acid Powder at the drug store and spinkle it in your carpet and rub it into the nap with a broom. If you do it in the evening you can vaccum the next day. The Boric Acid is not harmful but it dehydrates bugs from roaches to fleas and they die Lasts over a year even if you clean the carpet.
