Advantage 100 Pack
Is this safe(picture)?

This is how I had to carry stuff one day. I only had to go a few blocks, and it was all clothes. I didn't have any trouble with it, but that was gently going through town. There is a (very uncomfortable) passenger handle towards the front of the seat, and that's what that strap in the middle is attached to. I was wanting to travel down the highway with that for about 1300 miles (+/-). I'm having trouble convincing Mom and Dad anyway, and Dad seems to think that isn't safe. I would like to hear arguments both ways, and some I can use to my advantage, perhaps even alternative ways to pack. There are no hooks or anything on that bike, and no secure place to put a bungee cord, and I can't find an affordable rack. They've all been at least $100 dollars. I might be getting a bigger bike, but that's just maybe. Is that safe?
I don't see why it wouldnt be. Just make sure it is tied down tightly an will not move too much. Also, make sure that none of the straps or anything are able to get in the tire because that really would be unsafe. You can also get saddlebags, but if you are going to do that, it will cost more than the rack.
